Just days left until submissions close for 2016 exhibition
Submissions for Australia’s richest regional sculpture prize, Sculpture at Scenic World 2016, will close next Monday, 23 November, with successful artists announced in early December.
As the only sculpture exhibition held in an Australian rainforest, Sculpture at Scenic World attracts some of the most creative and unique ideas for sculpture installation, transforming the natural landscape while remaining sensitive to the environment.
The exhibition will be held 8 April to 8 May 2016, with the selection panel reviewing artist’s submissions after the 23 November deadline.
Sculpture at Scenic World Exhibition Manager, Justin Morrissey, said the $20,000 Scenic World Major Award is non-acquisitive.
“Other awards include the $5,000 Artist Peer Award, the $2,000 Scenic World Staff Award and the $1,000 People’s Choice Award which is sponsored by The Carrington Hotel, here in the Blue Mountains,” Justin said.
“The quality of the submissions so far has been great and I think the selection panel is going to be challenged to whittle the field down to the final exhibiting artists.”
“Artists are invited to discuss their submission prior to entries closing next Monday, 23 November for consideration for Sculpture at Scenic World 2016,” Justin said.
In 2016, exhibiting artists will also present small scale works for Sculpture Otherwise at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.
