Forest Emoji, 2018

Forest Emoji is from a series of works based on the evolution of language. Specifically the visual language of the modern technology. It is an attempt to try and bring this imagery into the natural environment. My work has always had an industrial quality about it. After being selected finalist for the the 2017 Scenic World Sculpture Prize it has inspired a whole new body of work. I am still using the same industrial materials and trying create organic forms. As you walk near and along the board walk you are presented with the six highly polished individual aubergine shaped sculptures. Each form a different size and each different distances apart. The hope is that the highly polished surface will not only give them an individual presence, but absorb and reflect their surrounding environment. They pop up in the forest inviting the viewer to seek them out, and perhaps catch a glimpse of themselves in it.
