Blue Mountains Rotary lends a helping hand
You’ve met the team behind Sculpture at Scenic World, now meet the loyal volunteers who share their time and passion of the Blue Mountains to help make the exhibition one to remember.
Scenic World has proudly partnered with Central Blue Mountains Rotary for the past four years, which sees volunteers from from all over the mountains venture to Sculpture at Scenic World to warmly welcome art lovers from near and far.
Rotary Australia is known across the country for the service and commitment of Rotarians whose unwavering dedication helps to support communities with practical efforts.
“We certainly like to do a lot in our local community, and we get a lot of support from the community,” Central Blue Mountains Rotary Community Service Director Ray Wiles said.
Locally, the support of Rotarians ranges from providing food hampers to Blue Mountains families in need, to feeding hundreds of Firefighters during disaster relief efforts. Globally, Rotarians also provide support as far afield as Cambodia and Nepal.
Closer to home, Rotarians pitch in in many and varied ways to support the Sculpture at Scenic World exhibition, such as sharing their knowledge about the Blue Mountains with visitors, helping customers to vote in the Visitors’ Choice award, and providing directions to visitors on site.
No two days are the same during Sculpture at Scenic World with just over a 100,000 people visiting during the month long exhibition, and the support of Rotarians certainly goes a long way in helping to make the exhibition memorable for visitors.
Sculpture at Scenic World Exhibition Curator Justin Morrissey thanked Rotarians for their continued support and made a special mention of the commitment of local volunteers.
“It’s a great pleasure working with volunteers who take such pride in showcasing the Sculpture at Scenic World and our incredible World Heritage Listed wilderness with visitors from near and far,” he said.
